For the next three years, we will be more involved in carbon adoption, which involves conducting research on CO2 sequestration in the meadow.
After a pilot year of work, we are continuing activities within the project to restore biodiversity on former agricultural lands in Nieborów, called Adopt a Meadow. This time, we have decided to engage more in the “carbon variant” of adoption. Together with the Kwietna Foundation, in addition to transforming fallow lands into vibrant meadows, we will create Soil Carbon Banks. Our goal is to restore the biodiversity of areas exploited by conventional agriculture and discover how much carbon the soil under meadows managed by different methods can sequester. For the next three years, according to a plan developed by experts from the scientific community, we will study the impact of our activities on CO2 sequestration in the soil. Moreover, such research is pioneering on a Polish scale.
As BayWa r.e., we focus on climate protection through the development of renewable energy projects, but we also take a proactive approach to environmental changes. We hope that the results of the research conducted in the meadow will allow us to better adapt our photovoltaic installations to the existing natural conditions, by appropriately managing the land between the rows of panels and around the investment.
