BayWa r.e. once again became a Golden Partner of the most popular publication about Renewable Energy in Poland – „Photovoltaic Market in Poland 2023”, launched by the Institute for Renewable Energy.
Two Polish companies from BayWa r.e.’s group actively supported report preparation: BayWa r.e. Polska Sp. z o.o. - PV and wind projects development and BayWa r.e. Solar Systems Sp. z o.o. – solar distribution.
Despite the present risks and challenges in the PV market, such as the continually announced reform of zoning regulations and unclear grid connection regulations, among others, it is gratifying to see the PV industry reach over 12 GW of installed capacity by the end of 2022, undoubtedly driven by the continued growth of micro and medium-sized PV installations.
Polish photovoltaics are driving the national and EU energy transition. The total installed capacity in EU countries was 198 GW, with an annual increase of 36 GW (22% growth in 2022 over 2021). Last year, Germany once again recorded the largest increase in PV capacity at 7.3 GW, followed by Poland with a 4.8 GW increase in installed capacity, and Spain in third place with 4.7 GW of new capacity.
Artur Marchewka, Member of the Management Board of BayWa r.e. Polska commented on the photovoltaic market in Poland: "While we expect significant changes in grid regulation, we also see room to intensify the development of large-scale photovoltaic projects. Our BayWa r.e. Poland project team is intensively developing a portfolio of large-scale photovoltaic and hybrid projects, increasing by more than half the number of projects under development."
The publication of the report was accompanied by a press conference held on May 23 in Warsaw. During the event, the results of the report were presented by Grzegorz Wisniewski, President of the Board of the Renewable Energy Institute. Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy Sources - Ireneusz Zyska presented the government’s position on the continuation of photovoltaic development in Poland.
This is the 11th edition of the "Photovoltaic Market in Poland 2023" publication. We encourage you to read the report, available at: https://ieo.pl/pl/raporty
